I am often asked what my products are made of and how they are created; as this is not the simplest process to explain, I'm hoping that this page will help to explain the process.

 

All of my products are printed using PLA, PLA is short for polylactic acid, a thermoplastic polymer derived from renewable resources, specifically corn starch or sugar cane. PLA can be recycled at industrial facilities but is not biodegradable. 

PLA arrives on a 1kg roll, and is heated to approximately 220 degrees by the printer's 'Hotend', this causes the PLA to take a liquid form, it is then layed down in 0.2mm layers to create the product.  The videos below show the printing process in a time lapsed mode:
